Homeless Man Steals Nearly $300 Worth Of Merchandise From Supermarket

Middletown Police report string of retail thefts and other crimes this week in their blotter.

Middletown Township police said several instances of retail theft this week were reported this week. 

On Sunday, Matthew Fehrle, 22, was arrested after police said he attempted to steal from on New Falls Road. Fehrle, homeless, tried to take merchandise valued at $278, according to police.

Police said an unidentified man stole a pellet B-B pistol from the K-Mart on East Lincoln Highway on Sunday. The toy pistol was valued at $56.

On Saturday, poice said a 16-year-old girl attempted to steal $55 worth of merchandise from a shop in Oxford Valley Mall.

Two more incidents at Giant Food Store occurred Friday and Wednesday afternoons. Police said Arvind Singh attempted to walk out of the store with $28 worth of merchandise on Friday while Melanie Cruz, 39, attempted to steal $61 worth of merchandise on Wednesday.

Police said Hannah Jordan, 20, was arrested after being caught attempting to shoplift $44 worth of clothing from Macy's in the Oxford Valley Mall last Thursday. 

In addition to the string of shoplifting, several other crimes were reported.

Police said a fight broke out Sunday at the Parkland Fire Company. Brian Barlow, 20, was arrested from simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct, police said.  

Police said at 2:45 p.m. on Sunday, in the Oxford Valley Mall, a woman reported her purse stolen. The purse was briefly placed on a kiosk desk when it was then snatched. The contents of the purse were various identification and credit cards.  

A decorative wishing well was stolen off the front law of a property on Spindletree Road sometime overnight last Friday, police reported. The wishing well was valued at $200.  

A spool of insulated copper was stolen from the Norfolk Southern Railroad sometime between Thursday night and Friday, police reported. The copper was removed from a substation on the railroad tracks near the Langhorne train station.  

Police said the hood of a Honda Civic was removed between Friday night and Saturday. The Civic was parked outside of a residence on Forsythia Drive East. There is no approximated value of the hood.  

The door knob and a key were stolen at a residence on Red Rose Drive. The victim told police they came home Friday night to find both missing. The value is estimated at about $150.  

Police said a thief entered a residence at Country Manor Apartments sometime in the late afternoon last Thursday and removed both a laptop and a plasma HD-TV. The items were valued at $1,000.  

A 1989 Chevrolet tow truck was stolen from the parking lot of the Langhorne Speed Shop on US Route 1 sometime Thursday night, police said. The value of the truck is $7,000.  

Several instances of criminal mischief were also reported by the Middletown police.

Police said vandals shot out the showroom window of the Reedman Subaru dealership sometime last Friday. Police said a pellet gun was used to break the glass. The damage is estimated at $800.  

A ceramic angel and mailbox were destroyed on the front lawn of a residence on Strawberry Circle, police reported. The incident occurred sometime between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Friday and caused $75 worth of damages.  

A large rock was thrown through the back window of a Chevrolet Caprice, police reported. The Caprice was parked outside of a residence on Fountain Road last Friday. The incident occurred sometime around 9 p.m.
