Levittown Driver Pleads Guilty in Crash That Killed Philly Officer
John Leck was driving the wrong way on I-95 when he crashed into a motorcycle and killed the driver, off-duty Philadelphia Highway Patrol Officer Brian Lorenzo.
A Levittown man pleaded guilty in court Tuesday morning for causing the 2012 crash on I-95 that killed off-duty Philadelphia Highway Patrol Officer Brian Lorenzo, NBC10.com reports.
John Leck Jr., 47, awaits sentencing after pleading guilty to driving with a blood alcohol content of .16-plus, more than twice the legal limit, and third degree murder. He is scheduled to undergo mental health evaluations prior to sentencing on Dec. 2, according to NBC10.com.
Leck was driving a gray Audi, reports indicate, in the wrong direction on I-95 at 3:15 a.m. on July 8, 2012, when he struck Lorenzo, 48, who was on his way home, riding his police motorcycle.
Investigators told NBC 10 that Leck had been drinking at T.G.I.Friday's in Bensalem before getting behind the wheel of the car. Lorenzo's wife, Linda, has filed a lawsuit against the restaurant chain for serving Leck six alcoholic drinks, Philly.com reports.
