Levittown Man Sentenced for DUI Death of Philly Cop

John Leck will spend 10 to 20 years in prison, followed by 10 years of probation.

The Levittown man who pleaded guilty last month to causing the death of an off-duty Philadelphia police officer has been sentenced to 10-20 years in prison, plus 10 years probation, according to CBSPhilly.com.

Police say John Leck, Jr., 47, had a blood alcohol content twice the legal limit when he turned the wrong way onto an exit ramp on I-95 in 2012 and crashed into Officer Brian Lorenzo's motorcycle, killing the 48-year-old police officer.

Leck pleaded guilty to third-degree murder and driving under the influence in October.

Investigators told NBC 10 that Leck had been drinking at T.G.I.Friday's in Bensalem before getting behind the wheel of the car. Lorenzo's wife, Linda, has filed a lawsuit against the restaurant chain for serving Leck six alcoholic drinks, Philly.com reports.
