Man Attempts to Remove Catalytic Converter with Saw
A Philadelphia man attempted to remove a catalytic converter from a car parked at the Cornwells Heights Park and Ride.
After fleeing the scene, a Philadelphia man was apprehended by state police for attempting to remove a catalytic converter from a car with a saw, according to reports.
On Tuesday, Jan. 15, an off-duty Philadelphia police officer observed a man using a portable saw to remove a catalytic converter from a vehicle parked in the lot at the Cornwells Heights Park and Ride.
At 3:10 p.m., the officer confronted the 34-year-old Philadelphia man and called the state police to inform them of the situation, the police report said. The man fled the scene, and the off-duty officer followed him.

The officer supplied dispatchers with updated locations while police attempted to intercept the man's vehicle. After attempting to elude the state police and Philadelphia Police Department in Philadelphia, the man was apprehended without incident.
The report said that the man successfully stole a catalytic converter from the same vehicle at the same location a few months earlier.
