Man Kicks House, Threatens Ex, Police Say

A 27-year-old man from Montgomery County made threats and tried to force his way into his ex-girlfriend's Falls Township house.

“I thought you had a guy inside”

That was the excuse police say John French, 27, of Gladwyne, told his ex-girlfriend on Tuesday after he made threats and tried to force entry into her home in the 1000 block of Bristol Pike in the Morrisville section of Falls Township, according to an affidavit.

A police officer was on the phone with the victim at 10:45 p.m. when he heard French banging on the door and cursing in the background. When all failed, French pleaded with his ex to let him in, police said.

Officers responded and took the 27-year-old into custody, police said.

Police were called to the house earlier in the evening for a burglary.

The victim told police during the earlier call that she came home to finds boot marks, removed window screens and several items knocked off the walls of the house, court documents show.

The woman also told officers she had recently begun receiving messages from French. He threatened to shoot her, police said.

The day prior, French went to the Morrisville residence and relayed threats of violence directed at her and her children, police said.

French was charged with burglary, stalking, disorderly conduct, terroristic threats and harassment. He was arraigned before District Judge Leonard Brown and sent to county jail on 10 percent of $100,000 bail.
