Massive Fire Rips Through Levittown Apartment Complex

More than 100 people have been displaced by the destructive blaze at the Racquet Club Apartment complex.

The American Red Cross reports that approximately 100 people have been left homeless after a four-alarm fire tore through a 48-unit building at the Racquet Club Apartments & Townhomes complex on Veterans Highway in Levittown Friday night. 

A shelter has been opened at the Snydey-Girotti Elementary School on Beaver Street in Bristol, according to a statement from the Red Cross. Approximately 20 people stayed at the shelter last night, while the remainder made other arrangements.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after 9 p.m. and spent the next four hours getting the blaze under control, Levittownnow.com reports.

Four people, including two firefighters, have reportedly been injured, and are recovering at nearby hospitals, according to 6abc.com.

Officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
