Woman Saved From Burning House in West Bristol [Updated]
A law enforcement official and a West Bristol man are credited with saving a woman from a fire that gutted a house Tuesday.
Tuesday, 9:11 p.m.:
Bristol Township Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito said late Tuesday that the female victim remains in the hospital and is suffering from smoke inhalation and burns.
He also said that Mark Cook stepped into the burning structure and pulled the woman out. Sheriff's Deputy James Mitchell arrived to the scene and held the woman from going back into the house.

While a cause has not been ruled, Dippolito said the fire likely started in the front living room. Investigators are still waiting to speak to the victim.

As smoke filled the sky and neighborhoods in West Bristol Tuesday afternoon, two men risked their lives to rescue a woman from a house fire at 1306 Wynfield Avenue.
The woman who was pulled from the burning two-story house was taken by ambulance to Aria Torresdale Hospital where she is being treated for smoke inhalation, Third District Fire Chief Ray Finnell said.
The Bucks County Courier Times identified the men who rescued the woman as Sheriff's Deputy James Mitchell and West Bristol resident Mark Cook. Both men went to the house after seeing the smoke.
The article states that the woman tried to go back into the house and believed another woman was trapped. Emergency reports indicated the missing woman was found safe outside the house.
Fire officials have not yet released the cause of the blaze. Bristol Township Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito appeared to be focusing his investigation on the front section of the first floor of the dwelling.
Finnell said firefighters arrived to the house to find heavy fire and went to work putting out the flames. Fire filled the first floor and quickly spread to the second, he added.
Crews were dispatched at 2:40 p.m. and had the bulk of the fire knocked down in about 25 minutes, the chief said.
Officials remained on scene as the sun began to fall and were still placing water on hot spots throughout the home.
The walls of the house were charred as a fireman emptied contents from the house out of a window and onto the front lawn.
Fire units from America Hose Hook and Ladder, Bristol Consolidated, Croydon, Edgely, Newportville and Levittown 2 assisted Third District crews. The Bucks County Rescue Squad was also at the scene.
