Officer Brian Lorenzo to be Buried Today

The burial of Philadelphia Police Officer is today at in Bensalem, immediately following a noon Mass in the city.

Lorenzo was killed in a traffic accident on I-95 early Sunday morning. He was travelling on his police motorcycle southbound near Cottman Avenue when an allegedly drunk driver struck him head on going the wrong way. The driver was John Leck Jr., 48, of Levittown.

Leck was drinking at in Bensalem before the accident, according to NBC10. Leck, who injured his foot in the accident, is in custody and is charged with homicide by vehicle and DUI-related offenses.

Lorenzo, a decorated officer who served Philadelphia for 23 years, is survived by his wife of 25 years, Linda, and their three children.

For the interment, will close traffic on Street Road from I-95 to Hulmeville Road and on Hulmeville Road from Street Road to Gibson Road. 

All of the roads will remain completely closed until the procession departs Resurrection Cemetery at the conclusion of the service. 

Residents should plan around closure of these roadways and be prepared for detours from approximately 1-5 p.m.
