Pedestrian Struck, Killed in Bristol Borough

A pedestrian was struck in Bristol near the intersection of Route 13 and 4th Avenue.

Updated, Friday, Jan. 4, 10:16 a.m.: Bristol Borough Police released a press release that the victim was pronounced dead on the scene Thursday night. The driver of the striking vehicle did stop and called police. At this time, the accident is still under investigation and anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to call Sgt. Pete Fraight at the Bristol Borough Police Department at 215-788-7811. 

The victim's information is not being released at this time.

Updated, Friday, Jan. 4, 12:42 a.m.: A male pedestrian was struck and killed on Route 13 near 4th Avenue in Bristol Borough, according to reports from the Courier Times and the Bristol Borough Police Department.

Patch received an alert just before 8 p.m. stating that a pedestrian was struck at the intersection of Bristol Pike and 4th Avenue. Bristol Borough police confirmed the incident took place, but didn't release more information at that time. Police have not released the identity of the man.

According to the Courier, the pedestrian was struck in the northbound lanes of Route 13 with such force that his sneakers came off of his feet and one landed about 75 feet from the other. The paper also said that the driver stopped after striking the man and is cooperating in the investigation.

After the accident police closed Route 13 at Bath Street to pedestrians and northbound traffic.

Updated, 9 p.m.: The Courier Times and Intelligencer are reporting on Twitter that the pedestrian that was struck in Bristol Borough has died as a result of a hit and run accident.

The Courier also said that Northbound Route 13 is closed at Bath Street. The accident took place at the intersection of Route 13 (Bristol Pike and 4th Avenue), according to an alert from the Breaking News Network.

After Patch received a tip that a pedestrian was struck, the Bristol Borough Police Department confirmed the accident took place, but would not release more details at that time.

Just before 8 p.m., Patch received an alert from the Breaking News Network stating that a pedestrian was struck at the intersection of Bristol Pike and 4th Avenue.

The Bristol Borough Police Department confirmed that a pedestrian was struck, but no further details were released at that time.
