Register for Tullytown Citizens Police Academy

The eight-week course will give Tullytown residents a better understanding of the police department's duties and responsibilities.

The following was posted on the Tullytown Borough Police Department's Facebook page:

The Tullytown Borough Police Department will be conducting a Citizens Police Academy beginning on September 18.

This will be an eight-week academy designed to inform citizens on different aspects of law enforcement. The course will be held on Wednesday evenings from 7-9 p.m.

The course is free to residents, and we encourage all who want to gain an active knowledge of their police department to attend. Attendance is limited to 20. Additional classes will be scheduled as needed to accommodate resident’s requests.

The goal of the academy is that educated citizens will be more supportive of police officers and the department, and will be more productive within their own neighborhoods. The Citizen Police Academy is not a “training” class but an exciting “information” program, a behind the scenes look at the Tullytown Borough Police Department.

The mission of the Tullytown Borough Citizens Police Academy is to increase public awareness and confidence, improve community relations and create a better understanding between the citizens and the Tullytown Borough Police Department through education.

The Citizens Police Academy is limited to those who live or work inside the town limits of Tullytown Borough, are over the age of 18 and pass a background investigation. The instructors of the academy will be officers from the Tullytown Borough Police Department and special guest instructors in the field of law enforcement.

If you would like to attend the Citizens Police Academy, please contact the police secretary Mon.-Fri. 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at (215) 945-0999, or send an email request to police@tullytownboro.org with your name, address, email, and phone number.
