Ex-Bristol Fireman Arrested for Alleged Arson

The man charged with helping set a fire at Bucks Meadows Apartments is a probationary member of the Eddington Fire Company.

The Bensalem police have arrested a probationary member of the Eddington Fire Company for allegedly assisting with an arson that occurred in the laundry room of Bucks Meadows Apartments on Aug. 20.

Police say that Alberto Acevedo, 19, acted as a co-conspirator when Robert Schaeffer ignited trash and debris in a garbage can in the laundry room. The fire forced the entire building to evacuate as the firefighters extinguished the blaze.

Schaeffer has been arrested and charged with setting the Bucks Meadows fire, plus an arson at the Delta Gas Station on Street Road on Sept. 19 and additional counts of burglary and criminal trespass after he was discovered living in an empty home on Knights Rd.

Acevedo, who is also a former member of the Third District Fire Department in Bristol, has been charged with arson, recklessly endangering another person, conspiracy and related offenses and sent to Bucks County Prison in lieu of $75,000 or 10 percent cash bail.
