The driver of a gray minivan was taken to Aria Torresdale Hospital after his vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer in Bristol Township on Friday.
The adult male victim had to be extricated from his van by firefighters and was transported by ground ambulance to the Philadelphia hospital, officials said. Police said he was in serious condition.
The tractor-trailer and minivan were turning from I-95 onto Veterans Highway (Route 413) at around 2 p.m. when the collision happened, police traffic Sgt. Chuck Burns said.
The exact cause of the wreck that left vehicle pieces and fluids all over the roadway remains under investigation, Burns said.
The driver of the truck was relatively unharmed, but his truck was badly damaged and pinned against a guardrail.
Tow crews pours bags upon bags of absorbent materials onto the intersection to soak up the leaked engine fluids. Fire police directed traffic around the scene just feet away.
Traffic on both Veterans Highway and the I-95 off-ramp were backed up due to the accident. Delays continued into the early evening rush hour.
