Teens Hurt in Forsythia Gate Dirt Bike Crash

Two teens on dirt bikes slammed into a SUV in Middletown.

Two teens were hurt when their Suzuki dirt bikes slammed into an SUV in the Forsythia Gate section of Middletown Wednesday night, according to Phillyburbs.com.

The two teens - both were not wearing protective helmets - were thrown from their dirt bike and suffered several injuries, the website reported.

Rain Lily Road and Forsythia Drive South was the reported location of the accident.

Calls by Patch for more information from police were not returned Thursday.

The operation of dirt bikes is illegal on township streets and some residents find it to be a growing problem. Dirt bikes have been spotted in the past on private property and the roads near Playwicki Park in Middletown.

Police in Bristol, Philadelphia and Trenton also often respond to calls for dirt bikes on public streets.

"They're all over....they're kids let them have their fun for crying out loud....the kids in goldenridge are always between the power lines n they walk the bikes there n stay in the dirt and there's usually an adult....what else are you gonna take away from the kids?!? Ppl complain they're too fat or they don't play outside....dirt bikes are fun! I'd rather see my kid on a dirt bike then hanging on the corner smoking or vandalizing something.... smh.....remember when you were young" - Stephanie Nicolette "too many in Golden ridge area" - Scott Benoit "Had one run thru a stop sign as I was making a left in Snowball Gate. Kid didn't even attempt to slow down. There's clearly a problem when the dirt bikes are being used as transportation rather than some good old dirty fun." - Todd Miller

Here are some additional comments that appeared overnight on our Facebook page (http://Facebook.com/LevittownPatch):
"Constant across from my house at the Levittown lake, my husband actually witnessed one two days ago riding on the sidewalk, same sidewalk my 8 year old was riding his bike on. Rely ticked him off but cops can't chase them and they know it, so they are pretty much taking over." - Heather Pone "Think they are a problem here? Take a ride to north phila, kensington, etc" - Rich Brandau "I no Rich -I work in the City Everyday-North Philly-West Philly--Southwest Philly-and South Philly--you are right on the money there-the cops just sit there and watch them drive right bye-you don't no how many times I almost got hit by one, especially down by front and Lehigh ave.Out of all the parts of the city-that area is by far the worst!!! -but I don't like what I see here either!!! ...##" - John M Sabatini "No where local to legally ride. Of course it's a problem." - William T Heck Jr

I would like to say it was amazing watching these future Hall of Famers at 8 years old fightingRead More through the weather and playing the 5 games in 2 days. They were tougher than many of the adults! I remember my days with Levittown American Little League playing in the 8-9 year old division and these boys would have taken us out! It would not have been close. Great Job to all and Congrats to Team Neshaminy...do you know how hard it is to say that as a Pennsbury Grad? I look forward to the next tournament!
