The Internet has lit up with the report of a woman stealing donations from a Toys for Tots bin placed in the Wings-To-Go restaurant in Fairless Hills. Just one problem: she was not stealing.

According to Kevin Miller, director of the Bucks County Toys for Tots program, the woman shown on surveillance video taking toys out of the bin is a volunteer who stopped in after she bought some cookies at the nearby Giant supermarket. In fact, Miller says, she is the one who originally delivered the donation bin to the restaurant.

"As far as I'm concerned, this is a publicity stunt by the business," said Miller. "They did not contact the authorities, they went straight to social media."

One of the co-owners of Wings To Go told LevittownNow.com that staff members called Toys for Tots and were told that the woman did not work for them. From there, they took their story to 6abc News.

"They did not call me," said Miller. "There are three different Toys for Tots programs in the Philadelphia area. I run the Bucks County chapter."

The reports of the theft prompted community members and area businesses to come out and replenish the bin with even more donations. The video, originally broadcast by 6abc News, shows a woman looking around near the counter, then reaching and pulling out the toys. Miller says the broadcasted footage does not show the woman's entire visit to the restaurant.

"She went up to the counter and announced herself to the girl behind the counter with her Toys for Tots ID in hand," said Miller. "The girl said 'okay' then turned around and walked away."

Miller said that the incident has taken its toll on the accused woman and will only make his job harder.

"She is destroyed over this," said Miller. "People are going to be less likely to volunteer is something like this happens. I have 20 to 30 volunteers throughout the county with full time jobs. They usually call ahead for pick ups, but many times they go in on their lunch hours or when they have a free minute."

A message has been left with Wings-To-Go. This story will be updated with more information as it becomes available.
