Truck Strikes Pennwood Student Riding Bike To School

Seventh Grader Injured, Transported To Phila. Hospital

A student, riding his bike to school, was injured after a truck struck him, Pennwood Middle School officials said.

The seventh grade student was hit at the intersection of Big Oak and Makefield roads Thursday morning.

He was transported to St. Mary Hospital and later taken to a Philadelphia hospital for treatment. His condition was not immediately known.

School officials said the boy was alert and speaking with first responders following the accident. The boy's parents were immediately notified and joined him at the hospital.

An automated message was sent to Pennwood Middle School parents and guardians earlier Thursday morning to notify them of the incident.

There was no immediate word on what caused the accident or the driver of the truck.
