'Suspicious Package' Prompts Evacuation At William Penn Middle School

Students were evacuated to Charles Boehm Middle School after a suspicious package was discovered Friday morning.

 

Students at William Penn Middle School were evacuated from school Friday morning after reports of a suspicious package.

According to a message posted to the school's website at 11 a.m.:

As a precautionary measure, William Penn Middle School students are being safely transported to Charles Boehm Middle School as William Penn administrators work to address and resolve a temporary safety concern in the school building. While at Boehm, students are being supervised and will resume their normal school schedule as soon as possible. Further updates will be posted on the Web site as information becomes available.

A subsequent alert notified the status of the situation.

11:35 a.m.: At this time, William Penn students are returning to their school to resume the normal daily schedule. Police, called to the scene, have since left after removing a small, suspicious device. William Penn parents and guardians will be called by Principal Paul Meehan to receive an update.

Parents received a phone message from the school's vice principal at about 1 p.m. notifying them the situation was resolved. 

Levittown Patch spoke with Pennsbury School District Coordinator of Communications Ann Langtry who said the district's mass communication system is in place to notify parents during incidents like this.
