Worker Dead at Falls Sugar Facility

A man was killed after an apparent industrial accident in Falls Township.

A man was killed Monday afternoon at the CSC Sugar processing facility on Roebling Road at the old U.S. Steel site in Falls Township.

The man, whose name and age has not been released, was missing for an extended period of time before he was found in a large hopper, according to scanner reports.

A emergency service source said the victim was found dead and firefighters were working to try to recover the body.

Employees of the facility notified 911 of the incident just after 2:30 p.m. and crews were on-scene minutes after.

Video shot by television news helicopters over the scene, which is situated in an area closed to the public, showed various fire and police vehicles at the CSC facility.
