Man Accused of Robbing Middletown Bank Gets Bail Lowered

Brandon Scott, 28, of New Jersey, was in district court on Thursday. He was released from county jail on bail.

The man accused of robbing a Middletown Township bank and then getting in a car accident that injured a local defense attorney had his bail reduced Thursday in district court, the Bucks County Courier Times said in an article published Friday.

Brandon Scott, 28, of Parkside Avenue in Ewing, N.J., had his bail reduced from $200,000 to 10 percent of $50,000, court records show. He also waived all charges against him to county court in Doylestown.

The newspaper reported that Scott is confined to a wheelchair due to injuries sustained during the August car wreck. Scott’s attorney argued that county jail could not offer his client proper medical care for his sickle cell anemia. The lower bail helped Scott get out of jail so he can receive proper treatment.

John Kerrigan, the defense attorney who was injured when Scott’s get-away car slammed into his, suffered several injuries in the crash and now uses a walker, according to the article.

Police told reporters after the accident they were not chasing the Scott, but he must have panicked as he fled the First Federal Bank that he robbed with a fake gun, prompting him to race his car down South Buckstown Road. He lost control and crashed near the Oxford Valley Mall.

Spray paint lines from police still mark the spot of the accident on the roadway.

Scott is facing robbery, simple assault and other charges related to the robbery and accident.
