The Air Quality Partnership said high ozone across the region Sunday will linger into Monday morning.

Increasing onshore winds and afternoon clouds will limit peak ozone to the upper moderate range. Locations west of the Interstate 95 Corridor have the highest risk for residual Code Orange ozone.

Code Orange Alert Day is called when air pollution levels are predicted to become unhealthy for sensitive groups. Code Orange levels are between 101 and 150 on the Air Quality Index.

In the afternoon, it will increase to the upper moderate range as well. Rain and clouds Tuesday will put it into the low-moderate range, but ozone will be low. There will be good air quality Wednesday with cool temperatures.

The Air Quality Partnership said sensitive people should protect their health by limiting strenuous outdoor activities.

The organization also said people can help prevent air pollution by taking transit, refueling their vehicle at night and conserving energy in their homes.
