Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick Promotes Veterans Job Fair

Congressman to outline legislation promoting employment among veterans during news conference at the Lower Bucks County Chamber of Commerce.

 

Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick is set to promote veterans during a press conference in Fairless Hills on Friday

Fitzpatrick will promote Salute to Our Veterans 2012 and also outline legislation for which he is advocating to provide employment opportunities for veterans, according to a news release.

Hosted by Bucks County and Bensalem Township, the event takes place at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Lower Bucks County Chamber of Commerce. 

Bensalem Mayor Joe DiGirolamo, LBCCC President Dan Bates, and local veterans will join the Congressman.

The Chamber of Commerce will also discuss their efforts to educate the business community on the leadership training and skills that veterans can bring to the workplace.

A March 2012 report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics has indicated that the unemployment rate for veterans who have served since September 2001 is 12 percent which is higher than national average and the rate among young veterans between the ages of 18-24 is at 29 percent, according to the news release.
