"Hurricane Sandy was an unexpected catastrophe for all of us in Bristol Township.  Just as your homes lost power and suffered damage from wind, water and fallen trees, so our schools were in need of help and repair in the aftermath of the storm.

"When the rain and wind died down, were were left to take stock of a cluster of darkened buildings.  Some had roof damage, broken windows and leaks that soiled carpets and left streams of dirty water in our hallways.  There were trees and shrubbery blocking streets and entryways.  Broken trees were lodged against our buildings.

"Prior to and throughout the storm, we had dozens of crew members working long hours -- first to prevent damage and afterward to repair the destruction.  We also worked closely with local and county emergency management and are grateful for their expert help.

"As the week ensued, each day things looked a little better. Windows and roofs have been repaired, fallen trees hauled away, carpets cleaned and hallways mopped and dried. Fresh food has been delivered to our cafeterias.  Every afternoon we met with admiinistrators and maintenance crew to determine when it might be safe to ask students to return to school.  Even as our buildings slowly returned to power, we were still daunted by reports of downed wires and trees in our neighborhoods.

"At this writing all buildings are fully operational and have heat and electric power.  We are planning to open on Monday, November 5 at our regular times.  Buses will also arrive at scheduled times. We ask, however, that you check our website and local media in the event that something changes.

"Meanwhile, we extend our sincere wishes that the lives of our families and neighbors in Bristol Township quickly return to normal.  As always, we are here to help in any way we can.

"We greatly look forward to seeing everyone back in school on Monday."
