Bristol School Construction Plans Tested by Township

The school consolidation plans will go in front of several township boards on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

The Bristol Township School District met one of the state requirements when it presented the consolidation plans to the community during Act 34 public hearings last week, but there is still plenty of red tape to get through before shovels can hit the ground.

First up, township reps will take another swing at the Bristol Township Zoning Board Monday night to get waivers approved for the third elementary school proposed for construction at Mary Devine Elementary on Keystone Rd. in Croydon. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the township administration building.

On Wednesday at 7 p.m., the Bristol Township Planning Commission will discuss final approval of the land development plan for Ralph W. Emerson Elementary. Finally, on Thursday at 7 p.m., the township council will consider the plans for the James Buchanan Elementary School reconstruction.

Bristol Superintendent Samuel Lee told philly.com that if approved, the Buchanan project could go out to bid, but the district would prefer to bundle at least two projects together.
