Neshaminy Teachers Approve Tentative Contract

The school board still needs to approve it at a June 13 meeting.

Neshaminy teachers voted an overwhelming 487 to 21 on Monday to approve an agreement that would end the five-year period during which they have been working without a contract.

The deal could go into effect if the school board also votes in favor of the contract on June 13, according to an account of the vote on phillyBurbs.com.

The document addresses and eliminates the "past practice" issue that previously had been a stumbling block according to the district's blog.

It also requires teachers "to attend one evening session per year to greet parents at the beginning of the school year."

Additionally, the agreement addresses teachers' lunch times, class sizes, teaching load, elementary preparation periods and more.

The Neshaminy School Board will present more information at a public meeting on Tuesday, the blog said.
