Pennsbury School Board Appoints New Business Administrator

The Pennsbury School Board named a new business administrator.

Personnel changes were the highlight of the Pennsbury School Board meeting Thursday night, including the appointment of a new business administrator.

Daniel C. Rodgers was appointed as the district's new business administrator. Rodgers, according to a Pennsbury School District news release, holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration with an accounting concentration from Wilkes University and a B.S degree in accounting from the University of Scranton.

Rodgers is currently the business administrator for the Southern Columbia Area School District in Catawissa, Pa. since 2005. He is scheduled to begin with Pennsbury School District in November. Rodgers also served as an elected member of the school board in the Hazleton Area School District from 2001 until 2005.

After passing the motion to making Rodgers' role official, those in the room gave a standing ovation and Rodgers shook hands with every member of the board.

School Board President Gene Dolnick poked a little fun at Rodgers' name as the greetings and welcome concluded.

"Now I know Mr. Rodgers is not related to Fred Rodgers, but I’m sure it’ll be a wonderful day in the neighborhood."

Other personnel changes included retirements and hiring of new teachers.

There was one retirement on the agenda. Sue Sholtis, a Pennsbury employee, is retiring after a 25-year career at Pennsbury.

Also 16 new teachers were named and their roles effective by the start of the upcoming school year on August 29.

The board also approved the hiring of two new videographers for taping the board meetings: Michael Erb and Daniel Fischer.
