Pennsbury School Board Approves $172.8M Budget
The Pennsbury School Board approved next year's school budget during a meeting Tuesday night.
The Pennsbury School Board held their monthly meeting on Tuesday to discuss the upcoming school year. Among the biggest issues of the night, was the proposed budget for the 2011-2012 school year.
There was much discussion between the soon-to-retire Chief Executive Officer Paul Long and Board Member Simon Campbell about the proposed budget.
Before the motion was announced, Campbell jumped in with a question.

“This is an expenditure reduction from the prior year. Can you just give me the dollar amount?” Campbell asked.
After it was explained that it was about $3.1 million less than last year, Campbell then asked what the fund balance would be at with a dollar amount.

“The uncommitted, undedicated fund balance will be at $2.9 million, which is 1.66 percent," Dr. Paul Long explained.
After a long discussion between Campbell and Long, they motion went into effect.
The proposed budget for the 2011-2012 school year is $172.8 million -- $3 million less than last year’s budget. With a vote of 8-1, the school board approved the budget. Campbell was the only one to vote against the budget.
