Visit To The Farmer's Market

A shopper can find fresh grown produce at their local Farmer's Market. Apparently, also donuts and kettlecorn.

My family and I visited our local Amish Farmer's Market this weekend.

We were really missing our backyard garden, and needed a stash of tomatoes and cucumbers.

Okay, we filled our faces with and kettle corn.

We arrived hungry, and could not resist the aroma surrounding the fresh baked goods, cases of meats, cheeses and breads.

As we nibbled on sugary snacks, and browsed the woodwork displays, I started thinking.

These Amish, travel from their homes a good two hours up the turnpike, one way.

They display their wares, in our town, four days a week.

I started to think about how they do that.

I pondered the thought, as I inhaled the last of my powdered, cream filled donut.

Driving home, I posed the question to my husband, 'Do you think the Amish people drive back and forth every day from home to the market, or do you think they sleep here four nights a week?'

'I don't,' he said.

You don't what?

'I don't think about it,' he replied.

Oh.

I usually rely on him for sensible answers to my bizarre questions.

I'll admit I think about things that most people don't. I like to think it's what makes me a good writer.

I get it.

I get that he doesn't think about it.

The same way I don't think about how many running plays the Eagles made last Sunday.

It's not a thought that enters my mind.

But, at least I nod and and pretend to care.
