County Provides Free Fans for Seniors

Hot, hot days can result in heat stroke or worse.

Bucks County seniors are invited to pick up free fans at theirnearest senior center while supplies last to help beat the hazy, crazy days of summer that lie ahead.

Seniors are especially vulnerable to heat stroke and heat exhaustion, the Bucks County Area Agency on Aging said in a recent release.

And thanks to a donation from PECO, they might feel a little more comfortable and stay safe for the duration.

Seniors should, “… remain indoors with an air-conditioner or in a ventilated room with a fan. Unless restricted, drink plenty of water and/or non-alcoholic beverages to prevent dehydration.  Minimize time spent outdoors and stay out of the sun whenever possible,” it said.

The AAA also asks that residents check frequently on elderly neighbors, friends and family members.
