Peter J. Kerner III died during a fire Sunday night at a mobile home in Falls Township.
The family of the 65-year-old man killed in Sunday night's fire at a mobile home on Foster Road has invited friends and relatives to his memorial service at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel, 41 W. Trenton Road in Morrisville, according to the obituary posted on the funeral home's website. The interment of Peter J. Kerner will be held privately. Harry Fawkes, 83, grew up in Croydon. As chairperson of the Bucks County Republican Party for 40 years, he played an instrumental part in the election of Mark Schweiker and Jim Cawley to lieutenant governor.
Phillyburbs.com reports that former Bucks County Republican Party chairman and Croydon native Harry Fawkes died late Tuesday night at the age of 83. Touted by the paper in 2000 as the most Influential Power Broker in Bucks County, Fawkes had a hand in the election of two lieutenant governors, Mark Schweiker in 1994 and Jim Cawley in 2010, the article states. “I am incredibly fortunate and honored to have known Harry Fawkes," said Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick in a statement to the press." On a personal level, his friendship and advice made me a stronger public servant and a better person."

Former U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter died Sunday, according to CNN, at age 82 in his Philadelphia home. Specter represented Pennsylvania in the Senate for 30 years. Specter started as a Democrat but switched to the Republican party before being elected to the U.S. Senate. The senator made headlines in 2009 when he switched to the Democratic Party. The retired Cardinal Anthony Bevilacqua has died at the age of 88. His body was found in his apartment at the St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Wynnewood Tuesday night. A spokesperson from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia told philly.com that Bevilacqua died at 9:15 p.m. "I was greatly saddened to learn of the death of my predecessor Cardinal Bevilacqua," said Philadelphia Archbishop Charles J. Chaput. "I encourage all Catholics in the Archdiocese to join me in praying for the repose of his soul and that God will comfort his family as they mourn his loss.
