Bristol Borough author Bill Pezza will sign copies of his newest book on Thursday, March 7.
Local author Bill Pezza will sign copies of his newest book tonight at Cesare's Ristorante in Bristol Borough. Pezza, who is a Borough lifer, writes his hometown into his books. In his latest release, "Homegrown," main character Johnny Marzo also lives in the borough. Marzo, who is a recurring character from Pezza's previous books, is home from Iraq. He's living in Bristol with his wife and daughter and works with the FBI, according to a flyer for the signing. Pezza said that books will be available at the signing for $23 and he will gladly write a personal message inside the cover. Bristol Borough police are looking for a man who stole a woman's purse in the Walmart in Bristol Borough.
Police in Bristol Borough are looking for a man who knocked a woman to the ground and stole her purse Monday night. The strong-arm robbery occurred at the Walmart on Commerce Circle at 7:31 p.m., police said. A suspect knocked the female victim to the ground and stole her purse. He then fled toward Veterans Highway (Route 431) through the Bristol Cemetery, police said. The suspect is described by officials as being a stocky black male between 5-foot-5 and 5-foot-7. A Bristol woman fought with officers when they tried to arrest her last week in Bristol Borough.
Bristol Borough officers responding to reports of an intoxicated individual who fell last Wednesday morning were in for quite a surprise. An arriving patrol officer was greeted by a Bristol woman screaming obscenities and threats outside the Food Pantry on Wood Street, court documents said. Police asked her to stop and she did not, according to court documents. As the officer went inside the food store to check on the fall victim, the 23-year-old followed and was asked by police to leave. A person in charge of the store also requested that she leave, according to an affidavit. Despite the warnings, the woman defied orders and kept coming, police said. A middle-aged man is in critical condition after shooting himself Friday night in Bristol Borough.
A middle-aged Bristol Borough man shot himself and then asked a responding police officer to kill him Friday night. The man, who police have had contact with before, is in critical condition at Aria Hospital after a self-inflected gunshot wound to the head, Detective Sgt. Randy Morris said. According to Morris, arriving officers found the seriously wounded man walking and pleading for them to shoot him dead. Morris commended the officer on how the situation was handled. A 35-year-old man was arrested following an incident at Warren Snyder-John Girotti Elementary School where he threatened to "blow" a school employee away.
A 35-year-old man was arrested for an incident at Warren Snyder-John Girotti Elementary School in Bristol Borough. Edwin Landman, of Garfield Street, went to the elementary school Tuesday to pick up his daughter, police said. The father became very angry when a school employee asked to see his identification before he could enter the building, according to a police criminal complaint. "What the f--- for?" courts documents quote Landman as saying to the school employee. According to court documents, Landman eventually produced identification and was let into the school. An armed robbery at the Dollar General on Route 13 and police activity around Cleveland Street made for an interesting evening in Bristol Borough on Thursday. According to emergency radio reports and a county dispatch official, police were summoned to the Dollar General along Route 13 (Bristol Pike) at around 5 p.m. for reports of an armed robbery. An alert from the Breaking News Network, a service that monitors police radio transmissions, reported the robbery suspect was a "stocky white male" armed with a handgun. A man concealed his face during an attempt to rob the Burger King in Bristol Borough after dark on Wednesday.
A man with a handgun tried to rob the Burger King at Route 13 and Beaver Dam Road in Bristol Borough at 9:40 p.m. Wednesday. According to Investigations Sgt. Randy Morris, a man entered the fast food joint and jumped the counter. Once behind the counter, he pulled a handgun and confronted the manager about the store's money. The suspect appeared to get "spooked" and ran from the restaurant, Morris said. No customers were in the store and no employees were hurt, police said. A large fire hit Bristol Borough early Thursday morning and left one person injured.
A large fire tore through two homes in the 600 block of Pond Street in Bristol Borough just after 2 a.m. Thursday. The two-alarm fire left one man with injuries, an official said. 6abc reported the man was elderly and being treated for smoke inhalation at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. The county fire marshal and borough firefighters remained at the scene just after sunrise and were seen combing through the debris. The fire is suspected of originating in the basement of the home at the corner of Pond Street and Eagle Lane before spreading to the connected house, fire officials told 6abc.
