Who is Running for Bucks County Office in Tuesday's Primary Election?

The primary election is Tuesday. Check the list below to see who is running for open positions on the county level.

Though it may lack the glamour of a national campaign, this election year is no less important, especially if you believe in the old adage, "All politics is local." The following are the candidates running for office at the county level and seeking the nomination from the Tuesday's primary (incumbents are bolded). The list has been provided by the Bucks County Board of Elections office. Pennsylvania has a closed primary, meaning that only party members can vote for candidates in their party. Democrats vote for democrats, and republicans vote for republicans. Independents cannot vote in the primary election. The general election takes place Nov. 5. 10 Years of Iraq War Casualties: Levittown Remembers

Twelve Bucks County residents are among the 197 Pennsylvanians and 4,802 Americans and allies lost in the war.

This week marks 10 years since the beginning of the Iraq war, a good time honor those from Bucks County who sacrificed their lives in the fight. By one count, the war is directly responsible for 189,000 deaths, not including those who died from hardship caused by the fighting. CNN has a stunning map of all casualties in the Afghanistan and Iraq wars. In all, 4,802 Americans and allies have died in the war, according to the Iraq Coalition Casualty Count, including 197 Pennsylvanians. Levittown's Maurice Jerome Johnson and Jae Sik Moon, are two of the 12 people from Bucks. Johnson died from injuries suffered when a roadside bomb struck his Humvee in Mosul, Iraq, on Nov. 1, 2003. Moon died on December 25, 2006 in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds …

The Bucks County School Watch Hotline is 1-877-888-7140.

Bucks County has introduced a 24-hour hotline for callers to share information about potential risks at local schools. The Bucks County School Watch Hotline is 1-877-888-7140.  According to information from the Newtown Township Police Department, the hotline was created so students, parents and staff can anonymously report situations that may put school safety jeopardy. "The hotline is intended to help keep schools safe by notifying local school and law enforcement officials of potential acts of violence, theft, weapons on campus, drug and/or alcohol abuse before they occur," information from the Newtown Township Police said. Middletown School Raises Money for Shelter

Walter Miller Elementary School raised $500 for a Bristol Township homeless shelter.

Students at Walter Miller Elementary School in the Levittown section of Middletown raised $500 for a local homeless shelter. Youngsters at the school helped organized a collection to help the Bucks County Emergency Homeless Shelter in Bristol Township. The money went to “Buck Up Bucks County.” The campaign raises money for the renovate the shelter's kitchen and is sponsored by the Bucks County Courier Times newspaper. "Students in our fourth grade created posters and did daily announcements to promote “Crazy Hat Day,” according to a release from the Neshaminy School District. Students in second grade performed random acts of kindness to help raise money for the shelter, the district said. As of Monday night, the campaign is reported to …
