The Spring Frenzy Has Arrived

The mad rush to the end of the school year is about to begin.

  When the kids said the PSSA exams were coming, the only appropriate reaction was dread. Not because of the tests, but because of what that signaled -- the beginning of the Spring Frenzy and the looming mad rush to the end of the school year. As we transition out of a mild winter, everything begins to accelerate. Baseball and softball seasons begin, which means evenings and weekend wrapped up in practices and games. Every musical ensemble presses for more time in preparation for the year-ending concerts and there are spring field trips to consider. With an eighth grader in the house, there are also plans to be made for the middle school finale. All of these create a giant jumbled mess on the calendar and try as we might to control it, we …

Engine 50 Features Its Firefghters In Calendar

Proceeds From Fundraiser To Help Firefighters, Charity

Cutbacks are a common thing for local municipalities, but one local firefighter company has found a clever way around the financial shortcoming by selling calendars. While they are not scantily clad, the calendar produced by Engine 50 in Bristol displays men and women who put their lives on the line to serve the local community. "This is our first year doing it. We made 1,000 (calendars) and will be selling them from now until they're gone," fire line officer Mike Carosi said. Proceeds from the $10 calendar are split even between Engine 50 and the Children's Miracle Network charity. Founded by actor John Schneider and Marie Osmund, of Donnie and Marie fame, CMN raises money for children's hospitals across the country. The charitable …

I agree with you...actually all local volunteer fire companies deserve their residents' support! Also, Engine 50 is located in Bristol BOROUGH not TOWNSHIP. Please don't be like the "reporters" at the Courier Times and check facts!   more ›
