Charter School Pleads Its Case To Bristol Township School Board

School board has between 45 and 75 days to make a decision.

The founders of Excel Academy Charter School, along with a legion of representatives from American Paradigm Schools, held a public hearing Monday night with a quorum of board-members from the Bristol Township School District. According to Excel's founders James Jones and Rev. Mel Howard, if approved, the Excel Academy Charter School will be the first charter school in Bristol Township. I just say “NO WAY”, we spend money like each tax payer has a money tree in the back yard for our school. Most cannot afford it anymore and selling out and moving where the taxies are lower and their retirement will go further. Nevertheless, this is not the way to go. School board members and our legislators need to look at keeping our taxies lower and getting the most with the least.   more ›

Prospective Charter School To Meet With BTSD

Excel Academy is attempting to move into the township, despite mixed reactions from residents and board members.

The co-founders of a prospective charter school will meet with members of the Bristol Township School District early next month to determine the fate of a proposed academy. It was announced at Monday night's school board meeting that James Jones and Rev. Melvin Howard, co-founders of the Excel Academy Charter School, will have a formal hearing on September 12 over whether they will receive a public charter for the academy. If approved, the Excel Academy will be the first public charter school in Bristol Township. I agree 100% that the meetings should be televised. I watch every council meeting I can't be there because I have 3 children and one on the way so I need to be with them, my husband attends every single council meeting, as for the school board meetings they SHOULD be televised so we as parents can see what is going on, not all of us can make it out there to the meetings because we need to be with…   more ›
