Police Dragnet Nabs 2 in PECO Copper Thefts

Two 29-year-olds have been arrested by a police task force in connection with an alleged copper theft in Levittown.

A police task force made up of officers from several departments arrested a Bristol Township man and a Falls woman in connection with the theft of copper from a PECO substation. Jamie Lynn Brown and Jason Pallis, both 29, were apprehended by authorities and are accused of stealing copper wiring from Middletown’s Durham substation on Oxford Valley Road in November, according to court records filed last week. Police said the duo cut a hole in fence at the substation with bolt cutters and stole the copper ground wire. Between the property damage and missing copper, PECO took a hit of $7,000, authorities said. $5K Worth of Copper, Radiators Stolen in Bristol

Theft of copper continues as Bristol Borough Police report $5,000 worth of copper tubing and radiators stolen.

Copper and radiators were stolen recently from Swain Street in Bristol Borough, according to Police reports. A Jan. 23 police blotter stated that $5,000 worth of radiators and copper tubing were stolen from Swain Street in Bristol. The theft took place sometime between the last week of December 2012 and Jan. 21, 2013, the reports said. Copper thefts are becoming more widespread in the United States, according to the Coalition Against Copper Theft. Since prices for copper have more than doubled in the past two years, the coalition says the theft of copper "has grown exponentially." Another PECO Copper Theft Reported & More

Bristol Borough police also reported several other incidents recently.

Another week, another copper theft from a PECO substation in the Levittown area. Bristol Borough police say they are looking for the culprit who took "several lengths" of copper wire from the substation at the corner of Linden and Mifflin streets. According to police, the theft was discovered recently and will end up costing PECO $6,000. Recently, Bristol Township police conducted a ground search and arrested one man after one incident while Falls officers continue to investigate a theft that caused $50,000 in damage. Hi Chris, I've been to Toronto (MLDA is 19) and Montreal (MLDA is 18) and the teens at the bar were no different than any other young person at a bar around here. I saw no binge drinking or lawlessness. Thieves Cause $50,000 in Damage to PECO Station

A PECO power station was severely damaged and local police are investigating.

Sometime in the past week, $1000 worth of copper ground wire was taken from a Falls Township PECO station. According to police, someone entered the power station at Penn Avenue and Tyburn Road and cut the copper ground wire. The PECO station is located near the entrance to the old U.S. Steel plant. The copper wiring was worth $1,000, but $50,000 in damaged was caused by the removal of the wiring, police said.
