Bristol Township police captured a suspect wanted for a crime in Middletown.
Bristol Township police recently arrested two people who had warrants out for their capture. Melinda Eckert, 31, was arrested last Saturday morning in the area of Levittown where was last known to have lived, police said. Eckert is charged with felony burglary and related charges in connection with the Oct. 14 break-in of a house in Middletown Township, court records show. She was also charged with disorderly conduct for fighting. The 5900 block of Emilie Road resident was wanted by Middletown authorities for the incident and was listed on the police department's wanted persons website. A Levittown man is facing more than two years in jail after he tried to defraud a state court. William Rullo, 47, of Levittown, was sentenced Wednesday to 33 months in prison for a scheme to defraud the First Judicial District (“the district”) of Pennsylvania, where he was employed, between 1999 and 2010. Rullo pleaded guilty to mail fraud. He was using his position as a procurement technician in the Procurement Department of the District to make illegal purchases, such as flat screen televisions, for himself, his family, and his friends. The district attorney is investigating possible tampering in the case of convicted child molester Walter Meyerle.
District Attorney David Heckler confirmed to media outlets Friday that his office has opened an investigation into possible witness tampering that may have occurred during the summer child sexual abuse trial of Falls Township tattoo artist Walter Meyerle. The Bucks County Courier Times first reported in its Friday print edition that a secret grand jury investigation into the possible tamper was underway. The paper reported that Meyerle’s parents were spotted in the Doylestown courthouse for the grand jury. The alleged triggerman behind the 2006 Bristol Township murder of Kevin Batista was arraigned in Bristol Township on Thursday. Ckaron Handy, 24, of Philadelphia, was brought before Judge Joanne Kline Thursday afternoon and formally arraigned on charges of criminal homicide, robbery and various other crimes. Handy is accused in the early morning 2006 shooting death of 30-year-old machinist Kevin Battista. He was killed during a robbery gone wrong while trying to score $50 worth of powered cocaine after turning into the Bloomsdale neighborhood while looking for his girlfriend. A middle-aged Bristol Township resident convicted of attempted kidnapping was ordered by a judge to serve time in prison in addition to several other conditions during his sentencing hearing Tuesday. John Hardy faced Judge Rea Boylan in Doylestown court Tuesday afternoon. The man accused of robbing a Middletown Township bank and then getting in a car accident that injured a local defense attorney had his bail reduced Thursday in district court, the Bucks County Courier Times said in an article published Friday. Brandon Scott, 28, of Parkside Avenue in Ewing, N.J., had his bail reduced from $200,000 to 10 percent of $50,000, court records show. He also waived all charges against him to county court in Doylestown. The newspaper reported that Scott is confined to a wheelchair due to injuries sustained during the August car wreck. The victim is filing a lawsuit against former Bristol Township resident Albert August Zuest.
A former resident of the Croydon section of Bristol Township who plead guilty to molesting a young girl is now facing a civil suit from the victim, now 22-years-old. Albert Zuest, 67, admitted in court in May to sexually molesting the girl when she was just 9-year-old, Phillyburbs.com reports. The lawsuit could make Zuest pay medical care and psychological treatment related to the injury he caused to the victim, according to the website. The victim is also seeking damages in excess of $50,000. In the case, the victim is requesting a jury trial. On Tuesday, a former Bristol Borough man plead guilty in county court to a myriad of charges related to kidnapping, groping and harassment allegations. Former Pine Grove Street resident Louis A. I am glad they caught this criminal. but ordering him to pay $433k in restitution is going to run afoul of the constitution. your effectively giving him a LIFE SENTENCE after this fiasco he will be lucky to find a job willing to pay him $20k a year IE a low hourly wage job.
