Officials say not to be alarmed by a large number of emergency vehicles at Mary Devine Elementary School on Tuesday morning.
Bristol Township School District officials are asking parents and residents not to be alarmed Tuesday morning if they see a large amount of emergency vehicles outside Mary Devine Elementary School in Croydon. The school is set to be the site of the Bucks County Emergency Management Team's regular meeting. "As part of the School District's Safety and Emergency Plan, members of our administration meet regularly with County representatives to review safety procedures," a statement read. Recently, Walt Disney Elementary School in Falls Township was used by Tullytown police as the site of a weekend active shooter training drill.

After several days off, area schools are reopening after Hurricane Sandy.
Bristol Borough School District The borough's schools reopened Friday after several days without school due to teh effects of Hurricane Sandy. Bristol Township School District The township district will reopen for all students starting Monday. Bristol Borough Residents in the borough awoke to no power and more than a dozen fallen trees, borough manager James Dillon said. Public works crews were seen removing fallen branches at 9:30 a.m. A tree fell against St. Ann Catholic Church Convent on Jefferson Avenue during the storm Monday night. Officials were not sure the extent of the damage to the convent. Bristol Township Residents in the Oaktree section of the township were lucky to make it through Hurricane Sandy unharmed. Several trees fell on homes and cars during the height of the storm overnight. “We were just luck that oak didn’t crash through the house and kill somebody,” said one woman, whose home was struck by a tree. Hundreds of PECO staff are ready for Hurricane Sandy to pummel the region, causing what is expected to be widespread power outages. But the utilty is warning customers that power restorations stemming from a "direct hit," could warrant a "multi-day restoration." The company said it is prepared to bring in additional crews from its sister utility, ComEd, in Chicago and from as far away as Tennessee, Kentucky, Louisiana and Mississippi to support storm restoration efforts.
