Gas Prices Drop Going Into Easter Weekend

As a holiday weekend approaches, gas is at a 3-year low.

March has seen a steady decline in gas prices to the point that gas is cheaper now than last year. AAA continues to predict that the national average will crest lower than recent years as we head deeper into spring, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. In 2011 the national average for regular unleaded peaked at $3.98 on May 5. In 2012 the price peaked at $3.94 on April 5. The national average this week is $3.658 for a gallon, down 3.4 cents from last week. The Pennsylvania average retail price for a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline is $3.673, down 2.5 cents from a week ago. Gas Prices Drop for the Second Week

Find the cheapest gas in Levittown.

The national average for a gallon of gas has dropped 9 cents to begin March, which is opposite of what motorists are used to, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. The price increased by 6 cents last year at this time and by 17 cents in 2011. In Bucks and Montgomery Counties, gas prices dropped 3.5 cents a gallon to an average of $3.709, the second week in a row to see that decline. It is too soon to say whether retail prices have peaked for the spring, because there is still refinery maintenance to be completed, and much of the country must still transition to summer-blend gasoline, the report states. Yet even if prices do increase, AAA predicts that the national average will likely crest lower and earlier than recent years. The national …

Gas Prices Remain Steady This Week

Find the cheapest gas in Levittown.

The surge in gasoline prices has been driven somewhat by rising crude oil prices but more directly because of refinery maintenance issues. This has meant less gasoline being produced and fewer supplies, which has pushed prices higher. Locally, the average price for a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Bucks and Montgomery is $3.779, up .7 cents since last week, 30.5 cents higher than a month ago and 4.5 cents higher than a year ago. In Pennsylvania, the average price of self-serve gasoline is now $3.799 per gallon, up 2.6 cents since last week. Nearby, the cheapest price for …
