Gas prices dropped about 1.5 cents in Pennsylvania and 1.1 cents in Bucks and Montgomery Counties from a week ago, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. The average price of self-serve gasoline is $3.685, down 22.4 cents from a month ago and 21.7 cents higher than a year ago. After Hurricane Sandy, there continues to be a distribution problem and not a systemic issue with gasoline supplies in New York and New Jersey. There is plenty of gasoline ready to make its way to stations, but it has to get there first. Once this distribution gets fully back online, AAA expects pump prices in affected areas to follow the rest of the country lower. After Labor Day, AAA predicted that gas prices across the country would drop leading up to Election Day, and will move even lower approaching the end of the year. And that’s exactly what’s happening. For the second week, gas prices dipped by an average of 13 cents a gallon, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. In Bucks and Montgomery Counties, the average price of a gallon is $3.807 per gallon, which is 8.1 cents lower than a week ago, 11.8 cents lower than a month ago and 29.3 cents higher than a year ago.
