Burglary A home in the 400 block of Orchard Avenue in the Langhorne section of the township was entered between 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. The home's bedrooms were ransacked and a laptop was reported missing. Investigators believe the suspect(s) entered through an unlocked door. Retail Theft A 23-year-old Fallsington woman was arrested for attempting to steal $311 worth of tools from the Sears in the Oxford Valley Mall just after 3:30 p.m. Theft From Vehicle Between Saturday and Monday, a GPS system and a $225 radar detection system were taken from a 2011 Ford on Lipton Lane in Langhorne. Two traffic incident happened late Friday afternoon in Levittown.
Woman Struck by Car A middle-aged woman was struck by a car at Route 413 and Trenton Road in the Levittown section of Middletown at around 3 p.m. Friday, according to reports. Patch reader Drew Sroka said EMS crews put the woman on a stretcher and took her in an ambulance. Emergency reports indicated she was transported to St. Mary Medical Center's trauma ward. No further information on the afternoon crash was available from authorities. Staff and students at two schools in the Highland Park section of Levittown in Middletown were "never in any danger" Friday afternoon following an "incident" that spawned a large police response, officials said. Emergency scanner reports at the time stated a "shooting" had been reported, and the schools nearby were taking precautions. The incident happened on the same day when a gunman is reported to have shot and killed 27 people including 18 children at an elementary school in Connecticut. The man wanted in connection with a late November sexual assault in Falls Township is now suspected of groping a girl at a popular store in Middletown.
Police in two townships are keeping their eyes open for a "subject of interest" wanted in connection with two incidents where young girls were touched. Middletown authorities late Wednesday afternoon issued a message that the same suspect from the Nov. 27 incident at the Barnes & Noble in Falls is reported to have "groped" a girl at the Target Tuesday evening in the Langhorne section of the township. Police say the suspect touched the young girl at the store on East Lincoln Highway at around 8:30 p.m. No further information was released. A two teenage boys were arrested for burglary Saturday by authorities in Bristol Township. Others in Bristol and Middletown are still under investigation.
Authorities in Bristol and Middletown townships are investigating four burglaries that happened late last week. Bristol police responded to a reported burglary in on North Kenwood Drive in the Levittown section last Thursday at 5:42 p.m. The thieves are believed to have gained entry into the home late in the afternoon through an unlocked window and took jewelry and a DVD. Police report the value of the items at $1,500. On the same day, authorities responded to the Langhorne of Middletown for a burglary on Wyoming Avenue. A 63-year-old man was hit when a car backed up in Middletown Friday morning. A teen was also reported to be struck in the afternoon.
Police in Middletown were busy Friday dealing with two pedestrian accidents less than two miles apart. At around 5 p.m., officers responded to a report of a person struck by a vehicle in the area of Cobalt Ridge Drive and Candle Road, a county dispatcher confirmed. Police have not released details, but emergency radio reported indicated a 12-year-old boy was hit by a car. His condition is unknown. In the morning, a driver accidentally struck a jogger in the 300 block of Snowball Gate Drive in Middletown, police Sgt. Steve Forman said. A 45-year-old Bristol Township man heard his fate in court on Tuesday in Doylestown.
A middle-aged Bristol Township resident convicted of attempted kidnapping was ordered by a judge to serve time in prison in addition to several other conditions during his sentencing hearing Tuesday. John Hardy faced Judge Rea Boylan in Doylestown court Tuesday afternoon. Aside from having to spend between 18 to 36 months in prison, the convict will have to take part in post-release probation, mental health treatment and a medication regimen. He is also not to have contact with the victims, court records show. Jonathan H. Simmons, 27, of Bristol Township, surrendered to police Tuesday, and admitted he drove the Cadillac that struck a Croydon man July 22, according to phillyburbs.com. John Rearick, 23, was struck while crossing New Falls Road in Middletown just after midnight. He died from the injuries July 28. Video surveillance footage shows Simmons’ Cadillac travelling westbound on New Falls Road near the Penn Jersey Auto Store and coming to a stop after the collision. Then the driver steers around Rearick’s body and turns left into the Plumbridge section of Levittown.
