The chief negotiator said, "some progress in defining our differences."
From the Pennsbury School District: In a 75-minute session, the chief negotiator for the Pennsbury School Board met face-to-face with negotiators for the Pennsbury Education Association (PEA) on the afternoon of Tuesday, November 27, 2012. “We continued our discussion on the Memoranda of Understanding associated with the contract and made some progress in defining our differences,” said Jeffrey Sultanik, the chief negotiator. “However, I was disappointed that the association did not have a proposal ready, as previously stated. In fact, they are now requesting salary information from the 2010-2011 school year, which leads me to believe that the association is trying to frame a retroactive salary demand that we expect we will see at the next…
County Judge Susan Devlin Scott did not rule in favor of Concerned Residents of Pennsbury.
County Judge Susan Devlin Scott upheld the Pennsbury School Board's approved plan for the realignment of election districts on Tuesday. The judge ruled to uphold a current three-region board. Three elected officials from each of the regions sit on the school board of nine. Concerned Residents of Pennsbury (CROP) said the district would be better served if broken into nine regions. The group, founded by a former Pennsbury music teacher, wanted the regions to be realigned, which would likely force some current board members out. The superintendent will now make $180,000. Do you agree with the raise?
After a unanimous vote from the school board last Thursday, Pennsbury Superintendent Dr. Kevin J. McHugh will be getting a $10,000 pay raise. Vice President Simon Campbell said at the meeting that McHugh achieved his “established goals and objectives.” The board members talked of how McHugh has exceeded expectations. Board member Gary Sanderson said when McHugh took the position he was on the low end of the pay scale. Since becoming head of the district in 2011, McHugh has dealt with change in administrators, unsettled labor deals and cuts in revenues for the district. McHugh began working at Pennsbury in the 1990s and worked his way up to the superintendent position. He recently moved from Montgomery County to the area last year. …

Pennsbury administrators present the school board with their comprehensive plan for the district through 2015.
The Pennsbury School District’s Comprehensive Plan, which will serve as a strategic guide through 2015, has to be submitted to the Pennsylvania Department of Education by the end of November. On Thursday, that plan was presented to school board officials for review. According to the updated plan, there are two main goals for the student body. The first being student learning and improving academic achievement for all students, and the second is educating the whole child and the student life. “Basically, we thought about it as two big bucket areas, and what are the big areas you want to drive the district over the next three years,” said Lisa Follman, assistant principal and guidance supervisor. What do you think Pennsbury should focus on…

Dr. McHugh has done a good job as the Superintendent of the Pennsbury School District, however, I cannot support any salary raise for him at this time as the school district's teachers continue to work without a current contract. I am always amazed that taxpayers seems unconcerned that administrators continue to receive fair compensation while the educators that have direct contact with our …   more ›
