Lane Restrictions Scheduled on Rt 1, Rt 213 for Bridge Beam Removal

There will be lane restrictions in Middletown Township while PennDOT works on a bridge beam removal early this week.

As part of the $19.3 million project to reconstruct the Rt. 1 Bridge over Rt. 213 and the ramps at the Rt. 1/Rt. 213 Interchange in Middletown Township lane restrictions are scheduled on Rt. 1 and Rt. 213 for bridge beam removal. From 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7 to 5 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, southbound Rt. 1 motorists will see lane closures between Bellevue Avenue and I-95. From 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7 to 5 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, Rt. 213 will have traffic pattern shifts between North Flowers Mill Road and South Flowers Mill Road. NB Rt. 1 in Middletown Closed After Fatal Crash [Updated]

One person is dead and several were hurt after a early-morning accident in Middletown Township.

Northbound Route 1 in Middletown was closed after a multi-vehicle accident left one person dead and others injured. The name of the 25-year-old man killed will the crash is expected to be released afetr his family has been notifyed, police sadid. As of 6:50 a.m., police remained on the scene of the deadly accident that has shutdown all Northbound lanes of the roadway between Maple Avenue and Business Route 1., PennDOT and county officials confirm. According to police, the accident happened just before 5 a.m. and involved two vehicles. Aside from the fatality, the wreck left several people injured, NBC10 reported. Officials from the Parkland Fire Company are assisting police at the scene.

Woman Surrenders on Homicide by Vehicle Charges

A 27-year-old former Middletown resident is being charged in connection with a deadly Falls Township crash that happened in 2011.

A 27-year-old woman charged with homicide by vehicle and involuntary manslaughter surrendered to Falls Township police Thursday. The charges against Ashley Sheridan of Perkiomenville stem from a October 2011 car accident that happened on the roadway that connects Route 1 to Route 32 (River Road/Bridge Street) in the Morrisville section of Falls. The victim, Mary McGrath, 66, of Morrisville died in June. She remained in medical care since the mid-day car crash that left her with "critical injuries," according to an affidavit of probable cause. A jackknifed tractor-trailer caused traffic delays in Langhorne Thursday morning, according to reports.

A jackknifed tractor-trailer caused traffic delays in Langhorne Thursday morning, according to reports. It reportedly happened on Route 1 southbound at Interstate 95 shortly before 9:45 a.m. Thursday. Clean up and rescue crews responded to fuel spilling from the trailer, according to reports.
