Cubby the Pomeranian Passes Away

Letter to the Editor: Days after being reunited with the family Cubby missed for 8 months, the Pomeranian passed away over the weekend.

Thank you so much for the story of Cubby. He belongs to my daughter Kristin Quinlan. I am so pleased you captured the joy she felt at being reunited with Cubby. She and her family were devastated when he disappeared. She searched for him day and night and was sent many well meaning but false leads. Unfortunately, our hearts break as I have to let you know, Cubby, who was seemingly well on the mend, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly yesterday. With the help of some very kind people, I was able to make arrangements for his cremation. And- she has your story to keep the memory forever in her heart. As sad as this news is, my brave daughter sees this as the final gift of being with Cubby one more day before he left this world. She feels …

I followed the Facebook posts the day Cubby was found and was so proud of everyone who tried to help find his owner. When he was reunited with his family I was just thrilled. I am very sad today to read of his passing, but Colleen's letter was filled with such love and honor for Cubby that I can be sad and uplifted at the same time by the miracle gift given to Cubby and his family. After 8 Months Missing, Fairless Hills Owner & Pooch Reunited

Cubby was found Wednesday at the intersection of Trenton and Elmwood roads in Falls Township. On Thursday, SPCA officials discovered the dog had been missing from home for months.

Cubby the Pomeranian was found injured and alone Wednesday morning at intersection of Elmwood and Trenton roads in the Fairless Hills section of Falls Township.  SPCA human officer Nikki Thompson worked Wednesday and much of Thursday to try to connect the small dog with its owner. By Thursday afternoon, the dog was reunited with it's owner, who had been missing the 8-year-old dog since it disappeared in June.  Kristin Quinlan, Cubby's owner, told Thompson the dog disappeared from the yard of her Fairless Hills home in June. Quinlan was not sure if the dog was let out of the fenced in yard by mistake or snatched. Both the owner and Thompson were not sure where the dog, which appeared well kept, had been for the past several months. Cubby …
