Obama Unveils Gun Control Proposals

The recommendations are a result from Vice President Biden's commission that investigated U.S. gun laws in the wake of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary.

In an address to the public Wednesday afternoon, President Barack Obama announced that he will sign 23 executive actions that provide law enforcement, schools, mental health professionals and the public health community more tools to combat gun violence. The actions include launching a responsible gun ownership campaign, having the Consumer Product Safety Commission review standards for gun safes and locks, nominating a director for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and directing the Center for Disease Control to research the causes and prevention of gun violence. Obama also want to improve incentives and look at removing any unnecessary legal barriers that may prevent states from sharing information with the federal background …

NRA: Put Armed Security in Every School Now

NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre, interrupted by protesters during a national press conference, says, "The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun."

The National Rifle Association (NRA) called on Congress to act immediately to put armed security officers in every school and make sure "blanket safety" is in place before school resumes after holiday break. "We need to make every school in America immediately deploy a protection program," said NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre. Should every school have armed security? Geez Euge: Is that the problem in Chicago too where 500 have died so far in 2012, with some of the most restrictive gun laws in the nation, or Philadelphia with 322 dead so far this year, or Camden with 65 fatalities so far? Seems to me most of this carnage isn't perpetrated by caucasians, but by others who seem to have no problems accessing weapons illegally to prove their manhood by gunning …   more ›

Neshaminy to Hold Candle Light Vigil for Sandy Hook Shooting Victims

A candle light vigil will be held tonight, Monday, Dec. 17 to honor those who lost their lives in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

To honor the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, Herbert Hoover Elementary teachers have organized a candle light vigil. The vigil will be held Monday, Dec. 17 at 6 p.m. at Hoover Elementary located at 501 Trenton Road, Langhorne. If you would like to join the teachers and community members in honoring those who lost their lives, please bring a battery operated or wax candle.
