The Neshaminy School Board will meet Tuesday night and consider approving a preliminary budget for the next school year.
The Neshaminy School Board will begin its budget process Tuesday night by considering approving a proposed preliminary budget for the 2013-2014 school year. This is just an initial step in adopting a final budget and being done in accordance with Act 1. The budget will be a topic of discussion at board meetings until a final budget it adopted by the end of June 2013. In addition, at Tuesday's work session, the school board will consider approving two overnight trips. Superintendent Robert Copeland will give his report, which is typically announcing good news within the district. The Neshaminy School Board will consider approving changes to two board policies Tuesday night.
When the Neshaminy School Board meets Tuesday night, its members will consider approving several agenda items. The board will consider approving changes to two board policies -- policy 811 which mandates the acceptible use of the district's computers, network, Internet, electronic communications and technical services; and policy 512 which mandates that high school students receive proficient on PSSAs to graduate. The Neshaminy School Board will reconvene tonight after a summer hiatus in a combined work session and public meeting at Maple Point Middle School at 7 p.m. According to the agenda posted on the school district's website, the board will consider non-renewal and demotion of staff as well as the approval of an assessment appeal. The board is also expected to address The Learning Center (TLC), which was on the chopping block during the budget approval process for the 2012-2013 school year. Members of the Neshaminy Federation of Teachers will not be in attendance at Tuesday's school board meeting due to threats and acts of violence. The Neshaminy School Board members will convene at Maple Point Middle School tonight at 7 p.m. Superintendent Louis Muenker is expected to give the board more cost-cutting suggestions to help them work to balance the 2012-2013 budget.
