The National Weather Service is calling for one to four inches of snow Saturday in Levittown.
A winter weather advisory has been issued for Saturday as a winter weather system chugs toward the Levittown region. Between one to four inches of snow are expected to fall Saturday, the National Weather Service's Mount Holly, N.J. office said late Friday. Several area TV stations are predicting two to four inches. The winter weather advisory says snow is expected to start mid-morning. The advisory is in effect from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. "This system is expected to intensify as it moves away Saturday night. Blustery conditions are therefore expected late Saturday night and Sunday," a briefing package distributed to local emergency planners by the NWS read. It could be much more than a White Christmas; one weather model shows the poential for a storm that could bring two feet of snow next week. Accuweather says it is watching a possibly snowy, colder weather pattern for next week and into the holidays. The lower portion of Bucks County was sparred the worst of the weather.
Light snow blanketed pockets of grass at Core Creek Park in Middletown by afternoon on Tuesday. While much of the area missed the inch plus of snow that some TV forecasters called for, the northern parts of the area received a fresh coating of wet snow. Major roads were just wet and some side streets were dotted with patches of snow and slush. Highways like I-95, Route 1 and Route 13 remained free of snow and all schools operated on normal schedules. Parts of the central and northern section of the county received a healthier coating of snow. You may be waking up Tuesday to see some snow on the ground. The National Weather Service reports that Bucks and Montgomery can expect about an inch of snow overnight - enough to make Tuesday's commute slippery. The Hazardous Weather Outlook posted by NWS states that an additional inch or so could accumulate Tuesday, possibly mixed with rain. Any remaining snow will probably be washed away by afternoon rain. A warning from the National Weather Service said the snow will taper off around midnight.
A winter storm warning is in effect throughout Bucks and Montgomery counties until early Sunday morning, according to the National Weather Service. The warning remains in effect until 2 a.m. on Sunday, with the snow slowing around midnight. Four to 10 inches of snow is expected to accumulate, according to the weather service, with the accumulation being highest in the northern parts of the counties. Additionally, temperature will be around or just below freezing this evening, which will cause icy spots on the road and sidewalks. Snowfall Preparations In Full Force
The Tullytown mayor’s office declared a limited state of emergency on Tuesday. The snow emergency was in effect from 10 p.m. Tuesday through 2 p.m. Wednesday. Officials from the Tullytown Borough of Emergency Management said all available data indicated severe winter weather the area. Read more about what the National Weather Service predicted. All residents were required to remove vehicles from the roads and all snow emergency routes. Temporary off street parking locations were available at Tullytown Fire Company, Tullytown Catering and Walt Disney Elementary school parking lots.
