After flirting with March-like temperatures, we're going to return to winter around the Delaware Valley, with colder temperatures lurking down the line.
Reality in January isn't temperatures in the 50s or even 60s. "Normal" is highs in the 30s to around 40, which is the air that's more likely in our cards over the coming days. A cold front slides on through during the course of Monday and begins the downward descent in temperatures, with our temperatures dropping from the upper half of the 50s on Monday morning to lower 30s around the region by Tuesday morning. Along with the frontal passage, a wave of energy will push northeast along the front and spread light rain and, perhaps, some light snow along with it. Even though I enjoy summer, I’m a cold weather fan. By September, I’ve had about enough of high heat and humidity. When fall comes around, I usher it in with unmitigated glee. Of course, like everything in life, nothing is perfect. As I prepare my house for the winter months, little field mice are packing their bags as well, in search of their winter home. My house, apparently, has a neon “Holiday Inn” sign with a perpetual flashing vacancy sign, beckoning mice from all over the town. I know this is going to sound weird, but I’m torn about having them in my house. They carry diseases, get into our food, and leave disgusting mice poop in their wake. 3 School Districts On 2-Hour Delayed Start
Three to four inches of snow blanketed Bucks County yet again during an overnight storm. That prompted three area school districts to delay opening. The Pennsbury, Neshaminy and Bristol Township school districts issued two-hour delays for students Friday morning. The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for the region Thursday and it expired early Friday morning. After the snowfall, slippery road conditions and reduced visibilities are likely to cause travel difficulties, according to the NWS. Motorists are advised to use caution while driving. The National Weather Service has issued winter weather advisory for Bucks and the surrounding counties. The advisory is in effect until 10 p.m. Saturday when two to four inches is expected to fall. The snow is expected to begin falling in the region by 8 a.m. Saturday and will become steadier during the late morning into the afternoon, according to the NWS. The snow will taper to flurries during the evening. Snow that falls to untreated roadways will stick. The snow is expected to cause slippery conditions and visibility to drop to or below one-half mile on occasion making driving difficult, according to the NWS. 8 To 12 Inches Predicted To Fall
The National Weather Service predicts a total of eight to 12 inches of snow to fall into Monday afternoon. The agency issued a winter storm warning for Bucks County and the surrounding areas and it remains in effect until 1 p.m. Monday. NWS said the greater intensity of snow started falling Sunday afternoon into the evening. Sunday comes with a high near 32 degrees and North wind between 16 and 18 mph and a low around 22 for the Levittown area, according to the NWS. Total daytime snow accumulation of three to seven inches is possible. On Sunday night, NWS said periods of snow and widespread blowing snow were expected.
