A national company recently made a $5,000 donation to the Lower Bucks Family YMCA to help Levittown families.
The after-school program at the Lower Bucks Family YMCA in Fairless Hills is getting a boost from retailer JCPenney. JCPenney, which has over 1,000 retail stores, gave the Y a $5,000 grant which will support after-school programs. The Y said the money will benefit children from the Bristol Township and Pennsbury school communities. Three staff members were honored for giving decades of service to the Lower Bucks YMCA in Fairless Hills.
The Lower Bucks County YMCA in Fairless Hills said goodbye to three longtime staff members last week. The three ladies have contributed 60 years of service to the community.

Employees from area car dealerships descended upon the Lower Bucks Family YMCA in the Fairless Hills section of Falls Township Thursday morning to help unload 3,600 new winter jackets. The jackets are part of the fifth annual Driving Away the Cold charity program, which will disperse 30,000 new coats to less fortunate children living in the five-county Philadelphia region. Organizers said the 3,600 coats will be distributed in the county. “Unfortunately, the demand for this everyday essential only continues to grow,” said Dominic M. Conicelli, president of the Auto Dealers Caring for Kids Foundation. Conicelli added that he is proud of the 170 dealerships that participated in this year’s program. Pennsylvania Secretary of Education Ron Tomalis recently announced the 57 schools and organizations that will receive a total of $64.4 million as part of the 21st Century Community Learning Challenge Grant. Over $4 million of that total is marked for Bucks County. “The purpose of these grants is to fund the establishment and sustainability of community learning centers that provide educational services to students in high-poverty and low-performing schools,” Tomalis said. “The entities which were selected to receive funding from the 21st Century Community Learning Challenge provide educational experiences that complement, supplement and fill-in the gaps of the work being done in the classroom.” Those chosen to receive the federal funding…
