Levittown Awakes to Snow

After an overcast day of light rain and sleet, snow began falling Friday night in Levittown.

After days of hype, Levittown awoke to find a healthy covering of heavy, wet snow outside. The storm dumped several inches of snow by early Saturday morning. Local municipal, state and private crews worked to clear local roads and parking lots. The storm put the county under a winter storm warning and forced local school districts to cancel events. The overnight snow is part of a larger system which has crippled major cities like Boston and New York with more than a foot of snow.

The latest forecast from the National Weather Service predicts 3 to 7 inches of snow between Friday and Saturday morning. A trace amount of ice is also possible. That is a radical change from earlier forecast, which predicted far less snow for the Lower Bucks County region. The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for southeast Pennsylvania, including the Doylestown area on Thursday afternoon. In Falls, Public Works Director Joe Arnao said crews would be working Friday morning to get all the equipment ready for the impending snow. “Cars will always be a problem and we ask that residents remove …
