Traffic investigators are still probing last Friday's wreck at I-95 and Veterans Highway (Route 413) in Bristol Township.
Police concluded part of their investigation into the minivan and tractor-trailer accident that happened last Friday afternoon at Veterans Highway (Route 413) and I-95. "Investigation showed the minivan, while exiting I-95, disregarded a red traffic signal at a high rate of speed," Bristol Township Sgt. Chuck Burns said. He added that the "minivan then struck the tractor trailer which was attempting to turn from northbound SR 413 onto I-95." Police were still investigating the identity of the minivan driver as of Tuesday evening, Burns said. Conflicting information has lead to delays in that portion of the probe. A minivan and a tractor-trailer were involved in a crash that tied up traffic on I-95 and Veterans Highway (Route 413) in Bristol Township Friday afternoon.
The driver of a gray minivan was taken to Aria Torresdale Hospital after his vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer in Bristol Township on Friday. The adult male victim had to be extricated from his van by firefighters and was transported by ground ambulance to the Philadelphia hospital, officials said. Police said he was in serious condition. The tractor-trailer and minivan were turning from I-95 onto Veterans Highway (Route 413) at around 2 p.m. when the collision happened, police traffic Sgt. Chuck Burns said. The exact cause of the wreck that left vehicle pieces and fluids all over the roadway remains under investigation, Burns said. It was nearly 7 p.m. Dec. 28 when a 38-year-old Philadelphia woman decided to walk along the southbound lane on I-95 at Tennis Avenue in Bensalem, according to State Police. “Interstate I-95 prohibits pedestrians from entering the highway, and there are clearly marked signs signaling no pedestrians to enter at the on ramps,” the report states. When a car came down the southbound lane and passed the woman, the driver’s side mirror struck her right arm. The car stopped a few yards away. The driver was not charged, but the pedestrian was cited for walking on a highway and was taken to Torresdale Hospital.

Two drivers were arrested for operating a vehicle intoxicated along I-95. On Dec. 6 at 11:10 a.m., state police stopped a vehicle on Route 413 northbound at Winder Drive in Bristol Township. The driver, a 22-year-old Bristol man, was found to have several outstanding traffic warrants and to be in possession of a controlled substance. He faces charges for drug possession and warrants. On Dec. 7 at 2:42 a.m., state police stopped a vehicle on I-95 northbound at exit 44 in Middletown Township. A deadly accident on I-95 tied up traffic during the Saturday evening commute.
A deadly accident on northbound I-95 closed the highway Saturday evening as emergency crews worked to free victims trapped in a car. Media and emergency radio reports indicated that two people were killed in the crash. Four other victims were transported to area hospitals. The accident happened just before 6:30 p.m. near the Route 13 (Bristol Pike) overpass. The scene is near the Bensalem and Bristol border. According to Phillyburbs.com, six people were in a vehicle that rolled over. Several victims were trapped and one person was believed to be thrown out of the vehicle. A CBS Philly news report indicates that a 23-year veteran of the Highway Patrol was killed this morning when a driver from Levittown, driving the wrong way on I-95, struck the officers motorcycle. According to the report, Police Officer Brian Lorenzo was on his way home at 3:15 a.m., when a 48-year-old driver from Levittown – allegedly driving under the influence – hit Lorenzo at high speed near the Cottman Avenue exit.
