No Injuries in Afternoon Dryer Fire

Fire companies from several area departments responded to a fire on Summit Avenue in Lower Southampton on Thursday.

A dryer is to blame for a blaze that damaged the basement and kitchen of a house in the 2000 block of Summit Avenue in the Trevose section of Lower Southampton Thursday afternoon, officials said. No injuries were reported, but residents were in the house when the dryer fire was reported just before 2 p.m., township Fire Marshal Bill Oettinger said. Lower Southampton Fire Company Chief Steve Krippel said fire crews arrived to find heavy fire in the basement and smoke throughout the home. The cabinets in the kitchen above the basement were also ablaze. Firefighters went to work and had the fire extinguished in about 30 minutes, he said. Valley of Fear Rises from the Ashes for Grand Opening

After a devastating fire in August, Feasterville's Valley of Fear is ready to make people scream with fright this Halloween season.

Though a fire at the Valley of Fear seemed like a devastation back in August, causing $100,000 in damage and injuring six local fire fighters, the popular haunted attraction is ready to scare and frighten just in time for the Halloween season. In fact, the Valley of Fear is celebrating its grand opening tonight, Oct. 4. "We’re feeling great. We’re very positive about the season," Northampton resident and Valley of Fear operator Tom Yaegel told Patch. The two popular haunted attractions that burnt down, the Zombie Research and Control Center and Captain Willie’s Shipwreck, were unrecognizable, but did inspire Yaegel's newest attraction this season: Zombie Research Center Zombie Excape Maze.
