Fire damaged a home in Penndel Borough on Monday afternoon. No injuries were reported.
A fire that started on the back porch of a home in the 100 block Dehaven Avenue in Penndel late Monday afternoon left a family temporarily homeless. Firefighters were dispatched to the home at 4:45 p.m. and arrived to find heavy smoke and fire running up the back exterior of the two-story home, Penndel Fire Marshal James Bampfield and Penndel Fire Company Battalion Chief Gabe Fox said. Bampfield said fire crews made an "aggressive attack" and were able to put the fire under control in about 25 minutes. Flames spread into a portion of the rear kitchen on the first floor of the home, while the bulk of the flames remained on the outside of the house, Bampfield said. The fire was reported by a neighbor and no one was injured, officials said. …

Middletown Township Police are searching for a man who went missing Jan. 17.
Middletown Township Police are searching for David High who went missing from his home on Durham Road in Penndel Jan. 17. According to police, he is a white male, 6'1", 210 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. A picture of High is attached to this article as a PDF. High left his home without his wallet, credit cards and cell phone. He takes various medications, include those to treat a diabetic condition -- it's unknown if he had his medicine with him. He has been entered into the FBI's NCIC database as an endangered missing person. He has been known to frequent the Bristol Borough and Tullytown area. A car hit two fire vehicles on Sunday evening. No firefighters were seriously hurt.
A man driving a black Pontiac struck two fire trucks in Bensalem Sunday evening. According to internet posts, the black car struck utility and engine trucks belonging to William Penn and Penndel fire companies. PhillyBurbs.com reports the Penndel fire engine was attempting to block the car from fleeing at the intersection of Bensalem Boulevard and Hulmeville Road. Just prior, the car struck the William Penn Fire Co.'s utility truck. Police told PhillyBurbs the driver of the car revved his engine before intentionally slamming into the truck. On Dec. 3 at 9:35 a.m., state police arrested a 46-year-old Dublin woman on an outstanding criminal warrant at Penndel district court. According to a police report, the trooper was informed by court clerks that the woman was in the court’s lobby and she had an active felony arrest warrant from the Attorney General’s office for a manufacture, delivery or possession of drugs offense. She was taken into custody without incident and released to state constables. The following information was provided by the Pennsylvania State Police Trevose station. Bucks County is helping Middletown and Penndel obtain a portion of land for open space.
The Bucks County Commissioners recently gave unanimous approval to providing funding to the governments of Middletown and Penndel for the purchase of open space. The county contributed $545,810 for the Middletown portion of the property and $224,497 for the Penndel Borough section. A majority of the land lies in Middletown. The mostly wooded 10.3 acres is lcoated at the end of PFC John Delola Avenue. Bucks County Open Space Coordinator Kris Kernhe said the property is expected to be used for passive recreation and possibly trails. The commissioners praised the two towns for working together to get funding through a Municipal Open Space grant, the county said in a release. Marta Gross, whose husband passed away in February 2012, presented the NTPD with a plaque thanking them for their help honoring his memory.
A Penndel resident presented the Northampton Township chief of police with a plaque to thank the police department for their help honoring the memory of her late husband. Marta Gross of Penndel presented Chief Barry Pilla with an inscribed crystal plaque at the Board of Supervisors meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 14. She wanted to thank the police department for their help honoring her husband, Clement Gross, who passed away on Feb. 13, 2012. Clement Gross served in Vietnam with the 3rd Battalion, 9th Marines, and his wife explained that after years of living with diabetes, post traumatic stress disorder, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cancer and many other illnesses, he made it clear that he wanted a military funeral. Levittown Patch shows the vote breaks down with town-by-town results.
More than 70,000 in the Levittown area took to the polls Tuesday to vote, according to county tabulations. President Obama easily won the popular vote in the lower portion of the county. A check of the presidential election results in local towns showed Obama also won the region in 2008. He won most towns in both elections in a landslide, data shows. The diverse make up of Levittown lead the BBC to called the area the "key to the 2012 election." Whoever wins the majority of votes in presidential vote Bucks County usually wins the national vote. Bristol Borough, Bristol Township, Middletown, Penndel and Tullytown have rescheduled Halloween trick-or-treating to Wednesday, Nov. 7. Falls Township officials asked trick-or-treaters to celebrate Halloween on Saturday. "Hurricane Sandy has left considerable damage in its path resulting in potential unseen dangers. With no power, there is no light. Area trees are fragile, and a branch or tree could still fall. A week postponement will allow everyone time to secure their property and allow work crews to get power and other utilities working again," according to Bristol Township Police's Facebook page. On Tuesday at noon, state police responded to a reported disturbance in the 400 block of Bellevue Avenue in Penndel. According to police, two brothers got into an argument at their residence. The argument got physical, police said. They pushed and shoved each other and police were called. Charges of harassment will be filed against both parties in Penndel district court.
